Help
Guidance for exploring and sharing on NOW.
What is NOW?
NOW is a live visual map of the world.
People can share photos of what is happening around them, allowing others to see places, events and everyday situations across the globe through the eyes of the people who are actually there.
To help answer a simple question:
"What is it like there, right now?"
How does NOW work?
Explore
Browse the map and discover what people are seeing around the world.
Open posts, explore places, and get a visual glimpse of what is happening in different locations.
Capture
Take a photo and add it to the map.
Posts are linked to real places, helping others understand what is happening there.
Discover
Open posts to view photos, locations and details shared by people who are actually there.
Do I need an account to browse posts?
Yes.
An account is required to access NOW.
Location services must also be enabled, as NOW uses your location to help you discover nearby content and interact with the map.
Posts remain visible for 24 hours.
After that, they automatically expire and are removed from the map.
This helps keep NOW focused on recent and relevant activity.
Can I delete my posts?
Yes.
You can delete your own posts at any time from within the app.
How do I report content?
If you come across content that you believe should be reviewed, you can report it directly from the post or through the "Report Content" option in the app menu.
Reports help identify content that may be misleading, inappropriate, harmful, abusive, or otherwise unsuitable for the platform.
Why was my post removed?
Posts may be removed if they violate the platform's moderation policies.
Examples include spam, misleading content, AI-generated imagery, harassment, illegal content, or other content that does not belong on NOW.
Can I upload old photos?
NOW is intended for recent photos that reflect what is happening at the time of posting.
Old photos, misleading content, or images presented as current events may be removed.
Posting Guidelines
Good examples include:
- Local events
- Weather and natural phenomena
- Nature and landscapes
- City life and everyday situations
- Places, landmarks and travel observations
- Sports, cultural events and celebrations
- Traffic disruptions, fires, floods and other noteworthy situations
- Unusual situations
- Real-world moments happening right now
These are only examples, not limitations.
If a post helps people better understand what is happening in a place at a particular moment, it likely belongs on NOW.
Context matters
Some types of content may be appropriate in one situation and less relevant in another.
For example:
- A selfie at a protest may help document an event.
- A photo of food at a local festival may help people understand what is happening there.
- A photo inside an airport during an evacuation may provide valuable real-world context.
In each case, the question is not simply what the photo shows.
The question is:
"What does this photo help people understand about this place, at this moment?"
Less suitable content
Content that is generally less useful on NOW may include:
- Selfies where the focus is primarily on the person rather than the place or event
- Portraits focused solely on an individual
- Close-up photos of food with little connection to the surrounding location
- Content that provides little context about what is happening nearby
- Photos taken solely for personal sharing
- Content that is overly personal or unrelated to a place or event
- Memes, reaction images and motivational quotes
- Screenshots or heavily edited images
- Photos taken indoors without any broader relevance to the surrounding area
- Images where the location and moment are largely irrelevant
These are not necessarily prohibited, but they may not align with the purpose of the platform.
Content that may be removed:
- AI-generated content
- Misleading or false content
- Spam
- Harassment or abuse
- Illegal content
